Abandoned as a child at the Velusian Sanctuary (the largest temple devoted to Bahamut on the continent), Elim has had a rough past. His prophetic dreams of fire and destruction marked him as "possessed by demons". The clerics of the temple put him through indescribable torture in order to drive the demons out.

To this day, those events have scarred Elim with a constant stutter when he speaks. He refuses to mention anything of his exorcism.

Though he will never admit it, Elim has an obsessive crush on Valeriala, whom he is sworn to defend. She alone can bring out his brave side, even though her reckless nature has had him call upon his healing powers numerous times. He firmly believes that if he can save her life enough times, she's bound to notice him... someday.

From then till now (Possible spoilers if you haven't read the archives!)

Elim from the getgo has a severe crush on Valeriala. (Link) He's always at her side, and seems very wary at every man that so much as looks at Val. (Link) (Link)

Though untrusting of Chaos, he seems more alarmed that Chaos will belittle him in front of Valeriala then of what the wizard is up to. (Link)

When Chaos won't back down, it begins a fued that Elim will regret, as Chaos reveals that Elim must not be a cleric of Bahamut at all. (Link)

The source of his powers remain a mystery. As the group get closer and closer to the Gauntlets of Graz'zt, Elim begins to grow weaker and weaker. (Link) (Link)

As Chaos reaches for the Gauntlets, Elim gets mortally wounded in battle with the orcs. As he lay dying, a voice he seems quite familiar with begins talking to him. Something takes over, and Elim's personality does a flip. In a burst of flames, he kills the orcs responsible, talking in madness. (Link)

The voices in Elim's head don't stop him from being the carrier of the Gauntlets. They do seem to be rather interested in them. They even offer Valeriala to him. Val, Not trusting the rest of the group, sends the evil gloves with elim to be destroyed at the temple.

As Elim heads there, he struggles with the voices, and we see a flashback of his life...
